Dancer Tip : Music... Please select music to the venue.. Not just your personal preference. This also means that you need to build your repertoire! Middle Eastern restaurant = middle eastern music! Not alternative.. The patrons are there for a meal and ambiance. Student Hafla (you are a pro) = well put together set, balanced and clean edit.. No slop.. Because the baby bellies mimic! (you are mid level) ^same rule! You are a Baby Belly.. Ask for help! From your teacher or someone you know who understands 'best presentation' philosophy. Fair/open forum.. Ask the promoter! What do THEY expect..? Again.. Not always your personal preference. At a camp.. Go for it.. If you are all just dancers and it is informal.. Push it.. Try it.. Experiment!
If you are known as a Cab.. Most requested will be traditional.. If Fusion.. Most will say 'do what you do' or will ask for something they have seen.. ATS/ITS will. Ask for group and maybe for others to join in..
Music portability.. And more importantly PLAYABILITY! Have your music on a single CD.. Backup in MP3 unless they ask for it digital in advance to prep a soundtrack for the show. If you bring MP3 bring your own cord.. Take off the security lock and if phone.. AIRPLANE MODE! Worse thing is to get a call or notification mid performance.
